Anyone have trouble with the suction cup windshield mount for their V1 falling off? Just installed mine and it concerns me what damage will be done to the dash if it does let go. Any tricks to it? Maybe I am worried about nothing.

Not a problem. Just give them a good licking.

Also, if the cups are old, you can get new ones through Valentine. They used to send them out for next to nothing but I can't say for sure if they still do. New suction cups make a world of a difference...`

I have found that when the suction cups or the window get some oil/grease, etc. on them it does not stick. What helps is cleaning the suction cups and the windshield with alcohol, letting it dry and then sticking it back on.

While we are on the subject....I took my now 9 year old V1 out my my M3 when I sold it in April and would like to install it in my 545i. I remember that for the last year the audio on it did not work at all. I have heard that Valentine can fix the problems and update the unit to be the same as the current models for a fee. Has anyone tried this?

Valentine always updates nearly everything for the V1. Just call them, they are great. Updating has been their policy forever. And replacement of parts, etc.

But the updates are not always free...that said, they're a great company with a great product. Give them a call with your serial number and they'll give you all your options. (If your unit is older than a certain date, you'll need a new case to get all the upgrades, etc.)

No problem with suction cups.

I had my V1 updated a while back for POP (cost around $50). Got to their site and input your serial number and they'll tell you how much to update.

Yep, still do. Go to their web site and follow instructions.

Thanks guys....I'll give it a shot. I am curious how many updates there would be for mine (being almost 9 years old and all). I'll go to their website and see what it says.

It cost me $235.50, shipping incl., to update one about the same vintage in February. Really not that much better than the old one, but does have POP.
