Hello all,
I've had my car 11 days. I-drive is a piece of cake. I can't understand why journalist stress its cumbersome nature (which is accurate) but then fail to explain the ocean of additional features and adjustments that could only be possible through such an interface? I still haven't fully broken the motor in yet. I'm at 800 miles. I have an observation that I was hoping a few of you might comment on: I don't think the throttle is very sensitive. Probably the result of throttle mapping. The 550 can take off very smoothly and cruise in a nice lazy manner, but the pedal really needs to go down for max power. In my 04' X5 and in my previous 740i sport (which did have stage 2 dinan software) the engine responded to very small increments of pedal movement. Pushing the pedal down half way in the 7/X5 feels like it delivers 80% of maximum torque. Conversely, The 550 gas pedal feels like its well suited to a driver with a clumsy right foot. I like the more agressive throttle mapping. But I don't believe Dinan makes software for this engine. Maybe because of valvetronic? As a caveat, I must say that I have spent VERY little time in Drive Sport since I'm keeping the revs down. I'm just curious if anyone agrees with this assessment?
Regards,
DRP

The answer is right there: SPORT button. Drive with it on and I bet that is what you are looking for.
BTW, Dinan doesn't have software for neither 4.4 V8 nor 4.8 V8.

Yea, I know what you mean. Its probably because of the power, if it was as sensitive as others you would be spinning wheels at every light. It just takes some getting used to. You need to learn how to apply the right amount of equal pressure to get the throttle reponse you are looking for. I wonder if the 530 and 525 are the same?

I'm guessing our 550s are throttle-by-wire and our 740s were mechanical. Also, feel free to remove the charcoal filter anytime ... throttle response is enhanced some when it breathes easier.

I wish 5er throttle response was as good as 3er.
Yea, i had a loaner 330, and the throttle reponse was much better than the 550. I wonder if anything can be done about this?
