My Ride: 2011 F10 528i - Imperial Blue, Oyster/Black, Premium, Premium 2, Cold Weather, Xenons.
Hello everyone,
I'm about to buy a Valentine 1 (as my job as changed and therefore I get to actually drive my 5er instead of it sitting in the garage)... I've read in the DIY forums how to hardwire it, but I was curious where you actually installed the unit... Centered under the rear view, left of it, right of it... etc.. please post pics if possible so I can get some good ideas!
Thanks in advance!

Mine is hardwired and located on the left of and above the rear view mirror. I am able to use my visor pretty good and the BMW sun screen when parked outside. It is convenient to see when it finds a signal.

My Ride: '05 545i, silver gray, black leather with anthracite maple wood, sport package, premium sound, navigation, cold weather package, electric rear sunshade, folding rear seat, satellite radio prep, PIAA 4150K fogs, red rear reflectors, hardwired Valentine One
I hardwired mine using the excellent instructions provided by Don Juan. I have the main unit just to the right of the rear view mirror and the concealed display in front of the MPG gauge. I installed the concealed display primarily because it makes it easy to quickly look down slightly from you normal driving line-of-sight when you get a bogey, and the mute button is in easy reach, but a secondary benefit certainly is if a cop is behind you, he's less likely to notice the V1 since the main unit is unlit with the concealed display.
Here's a thread with pix of my install:

Mine is the same location as JDN. For the juice, I got it from rain sensor. For the conceal, I run the wire from the unit to the left down to the right A pillar next to HUD unit.

My Ride: 2005 545i with everything
Put it to the right of the rear view mirror. It allows full use of both sun visors but is still well within your line of sight. I had it to the Left of my mirror in my E46 and I really missed being able to use the sun visor.

Right in the middle of the windshield. Rear antenna has unobstructed view to the rear. Doesn't look pretty but it works.
