lol.....

If it's less than 1% and doesn't make a difference, why do so many people fork out $$$$ for light wheels?

I think the main appeal in addition to unsprung weight is strength. If I could afford it would run forged rims on my car - which are stronger.

Thats 52lbs off the total weight of the car(rim/tire change)(OE tires were runflat bridgestones). You wouldn't notice any difference? A=f/m

Did a little research- I was able to find the weights of the OE 124 wheels/ Bridgestone RFT's and the weights of the aftermarket 19's and Hankook V12's

OE set-up weighs a total of 224 lbs.

Avant Garde M310s and Hankooks weigh a total of 222 lbs

Forgestar F14 and Hankooks weigh a total of 214 lbs

The break-down:

OE Fronts: 112 lbs
OE Rears: 112 lbs

M310 fronts with Hankooks: 100 lbs
M310 rears with Hankooks: 122 lbs

F14 fronts with Hankooks: 98 lbs
F14 rears with Hankooks: 116 lbs

Both are lighter in total than the OE set-up, assuming these the above weights are accurate, and like a few of you have been saying I doubt I will notice any difference, which I believe now seeing the little bit of difference.

The weight would probably be less than the OE set-up, but I'm going with 11's on the back, so obviously there is some extra weight there

The same reason they sell tons of enzite, get rich quick 'secrets', unobtanium bicyle frames, exotic stereo components, etc, etc, etc:

Pride of ownership, exclusivity, gullibility and just plain ignorance.
