Tyres, wheels and ride quality
Hi all. The runflat tyres on my car are nearing the end of their life. I've become tired of the harsh ride and I guess now is my chance to get rid of the runflats forever!
My car is a pre-LCI 530d SE with Dunlop 18" runflats on style 124 OEM alloys - 245/40/18 (front) and 275/35/18 (rear).
I've searched posts covering runflats to normal tyres but I wanted your opinions on the choices that I have. I like the 124s and could just change the tyres to normal. A smooth ride and not very noisy is what I'm after. Some have found the Falken 452s on the noisy side. Are they still my best overall option without paying top-end for something like Michelins?
Now the other temptation is to change the alloys too as I quite like the M6 alloys in 19" (style M167). Can't afford the OEMs but I found replicas for sale where I could part exchange my current. Are replicas a bad idea all together? The tyre size with these would be 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear.
Someone mentioned, ride deteriorates as wheels get bigger and tyre profile gets lower. Has anyone felt this for 18" to 19"? Am I best staying away from the 19" replicas and sticking with the OEM 124s which look fine too, though the gunmetal finish of the 167s would not need cleaning as often as my 124s!
Which normal tyres would you recommend with either of the two options above?
18s or 19s, I won't forget to buy the spacesaver or atleast a can of tyre weld! Thanks very much for any thoughts.

Michelin's, Yes PS2 or Pilot Sport A/S (they are worth it, it's a BMW for gods sake put good tires on it)
The bigger the wheels the worse the car rides (and accelerates, corners, stops... unsprung weight... physics ...) exception... unless you replace crappy heavy wheels with bigger forged (very expensive) light weight wheels.
Skip buying cheap wheels, use that money to but the best tires, that will make your car drive best (accelerate, stop, corner, ride)
Replica's, No

Can't agree more. I'm saving money to change my tyres to a better ones!
