comfort/active seats, active steering, active lights, active cruise control, comfort entry, TV, Pro logic 7 sound, bloody fast too.
I'm not that flush, ?800 is not the kind of money i can spend again in April and then keep swapping them around.
BTW, what happens to winter tyres in the summer, cant i just keep them on?

I don't want to go down the different season, different tyres route.
An all rounder is fine for me, I don't do extreme performance driving, when it's wet or icy I drive very carefully.

I'm very happy with my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my 545i, I plan on getting them again if I keep the car that long.

Standard UK tyres are not all rounders, they are summer performance, wet is not a problem, but in snow your car will be next to useless.
Winter tyres can come off in the summer and be stored for next winter, they do not perform well in warmer conditions. It does not actually cost you any more, you just buy two sets of tyres in 6 months, then nothing for 3-4 years, over that period the amount you spend on tyres is the same, the set in the garage do not wear out !

Do not run winter tires in the summer. The compound in the tire is NOT made for temps above 7 degrees C. As the tires heats up to summer temps it will squirm on the pavement and will increase its wear by a large margin. Your everyday handling will suffer. On those occasions where you want to have some fun the car will not behave well at all.
A few manufacturers have created a year round tire which may suit you but they are new technology and not really designed for the handling that a BMW offers. As well sizes are limited.
I drive like you do and am still using my OEM Goodyear Eagles and just purchased a set of Michelin X-Ice i2 dedicated winter tires.

My Ride: 2004 545i TITANIUM GREY II on Black Dakota Lthr, Comfort Seats, Sports PKG, Premium PKG, Active/Dynamic Drive, NAV, Winter Package.
Go with the Hankooks Ventus V12, what a tire! Super quiet, lots of tread, great handling and very cheap. Last April prior to upgrading to the M166, I put on the 124s GoodYear Asymmetric which is considered to be one of the best tires out there. After running on the Hankooks for few months it feels to me as good as the GoodYear if not even better. You want regret it!

but yes, at the moment my car is pretty useless, no grip and when i drive up my street, just having the selector in DRIVE without any gas seems dangerously fast (in the snow).

I'm running on Ventus V12 also at summertime and I agree: quiet, handles well, cheap and long lasting!
