What's the best way to get TV channels in the car? Does anyone have any experience with DVD players with built in TV tuners? What's the perfect fit for the CD changer slot in the glove box?

I don't thint there are any DVD player/TV Tuner combos that would fit in that slot as of yet. I personally am going to wait until apple comes out with the iTV and install that bad boy in my car, that way I can have music, movies, tv shows, pictures, whatever I want in there, and it looks like it will probably fit in that slot no problem. Not too mention I wont have to have DVD's sitting in my car, they'll all be on it's hard drive.

Where will you get all your medias? Since the iTV connects to a computer and gets the content from your computer right? If i'm understanding the iTV product. I'm just curious. I'm putting a Mac Mini in my car when Dom's unit arrives, which enables me to have everything form music to dvd, to internet. Can you tell me more about how you would install the iTV. I'm interested.

YAY my 500th post!! SWEET!!

Thanks Sam, I appreciate it your kindness. First I gotta get it working in my car, then I will help you install everything in your car, because I don't wanna go trial and error on anyones's car besides mine... But I'm sure when the units come in, I'll have it up and running pretty fast, if I get the Mac Mini fast as well. Cheer Bro!!

PS: How'd you get Senior Member with 100 posts?? I thought you needed like 200 or something...

From the early talk that I've heard about it, the iTV will have it's own hardrive and will be able to wirelessly connect to your computer at home, that way you just plug your iTV into your TV and then whenever you download a movie or something off iTunes it will wirelessly update on the iTV (assuming you are in range). You can also do a direct connection through USB2 I believe, so you could use a pen drive to transfer your media. I'm thinking that since I have a laptop, if I'm not in range when I get home, I could just take the laptop down to my car and either do a direct connection or wireless.

I thought about the Mac Mini too, but how are you going to have it display on your idrive screen? Mac Mini doesn't have RCA outputs does it? Also, can you control the Mac Mini with a remote, or do you have to use a mouse? I obviously need to update all of my Apple faqs.

What about the DVD player with built in TV Tuner Dom has? Does anyone hear any feedback on those?

Um... you can pretty much control all medias through a remote by using Front Row. The Mac Mini can have the DVi (i think) to RCA converter, and then an RCA cable straight into Dom's interface. Thats how I'm doing mine, and it can be done, I done it in the past with my Land Cruiser and a laptop.

Sorry kevykev for the off topic, but I dono about Dom's unit with the DVD and the tv tuner. But you can get a Mac Mini and get a TV tuner in, then you can have everything.

(I'm not in any way working for Apple. ) I just like their products...

The only thing about the Mac Mini is that it costs like $200-$400 more than the iTV will, probably due to the larger hard drive, but I don't think I'm going to need anything that large. I don't know what the specs on the iTV's hard drive would be, but if it's around 10GB that's enough for me and it already has the RCA out, so it'd be a direct plug in to Dom's unit. We'll see once it finally comes out I guess.
