isnt there a weight sensor on the front seat that only activates the airbag if there is heavy object on the seat? when you start the car, at the same time look up at the sunroof controls and there is a light that says airbag is off.

Putting a child seat in the front seat is not a good idea. Why would anyone want to risk a higher chance of injury or death for a child by having them ride in the front seat? Children belong in the back seat.

The bag disable was an Option and a Retrofit as well. I can't find it on RealOEM now, but am 100% sure I have seen it before.
The coding is only needed once and its to tell the car that the Option has been installed. Its only activated when you put the key in.
P.S. : Found it

Thanks, but there are various reasons why people want to have children / babies in the front seat. Im sure they can appreciate it can be higher risks. I am checking my friend has iso fix in the front seat to reduce the risks and Im sure they will have a safe baby cot / chair, but at the end of the day it is a personal choice.

Just ask your dealer for a print out of EBA 2161764 (or EBA 2161764 if you have an LCI) and work it out for yourself. My guess it should be pretty easy. All its probably doing in making a connection to the CAN BUS and sending a disable bag message when the key is turned.
