How about the STS turbos.
Yes, it is possible. there is already a 530i e60 (from a member of e46fanatics forum) with STS turbo installed and in dyno it shows 339.3 whp or 440 hp crank!

I can't image for 545i

Just found it.... the universal STS Turbo just costs $3000.....

or VF Supercharger (about $6000-$7000).......

Well, mine is 2004... should it work?
The guy said his car was a guinea pig and now it improved.

I like the VF but it is not done yet... it has not been done for years...

i would just suggest to keep it as stock...

it will be too much to do and alot of money.. it might be better sell or car and put that money on used 550i..... and stock engine last longer than supercharged or turbo charged engines...

also some insurance company doesnt like the fact that has aftermarket turbo charger or supercharger on bmw..

+1 Long time ago I also thought about doing STS rear mount turbos but later found it wouldn't be worth the hassle/long term reliability. ESS Twin-Screw s/c is my best bet, but I would rather spend less on a ASA, AA, or VF s/c . Does anybody know if it is possible to fit a E46/E39 I6 M54 engine s/c in a E60 I6 M54 engine?

The biggest thing I'm wondering about the supercharger on the 545 is how willl the stock clutch hold up to an extra 125-150 hp?

That VF supercharger looks like a badass unit. I thought Joe was going to get an M5? If I had 7k lying around, I'd get that VF supercharger. Aren't they claiming 450-500 hp?

Isn't it like 7k for the supercharger and another 9k for labor to install ?!?!
