A weld can actually be a weak spot because the exhaust heats up and cools down, many times during the day, and welds don't like to flex. If they welded your exhaust using a sleeve, it would be more secure...IMO the clamp is the best way to go. But as long as it holds and the sound is amazing, it's all good! Can't wait to hear it at the next meet, want to compare it to the exhaust I had on my 545i
