Came across this while searching the net.
For those who are in States that require front license plates and don't want to drill holes in your bumper. Kit installs where the factory tow-hook is screwed in.

Link (they have one for the 3-series, not sure if it fits the 5-series)

I installed one Tuesday night, after getting stopped for no front license Friday. I liked it better with the offset mount in the lower right corner but that interfered with the PDC on the far right. interestingly enough it is not interfering with the PDC as it's mounted now. It does cover the air intake on the right hand side - I'm going to take it off whenever I expect to use it at higher speeds. Pics to come.

its a good solution if you need one, but does anyone know if it can be easily unscrewed by people wanting to steal your plate? It happens, trust me. I know some people have used special screws (like the ones used in public bathrooms that can only be installed and not easily removed), but I would be super pissed if not only I lost my plate, but a $60 mount too
Edit: wow thread was a bit old, but at least I was not the first to bring it back!

Yes, it can be removed easily by anyone with a wrench, or maybe a strong set of hands. then again, would it do them any good unless they had a BMW as well? BMW owners wouldn't steal from each other, I hope
The first picture shows the first attempt at installation. the PDC on the right picked this up.
The second pic shows how it looks using the center hole, as it's mounted now. no PDC.
The last pic is the complete kit as it came.

When I go to the big city I just take it off because big city cops won't have time to stop drivers for no FLP.
