Hi
i'm looking to get a 530 soon but the only thing holding me back is i cant seem to find any dealer selling a tow hitch...
whats up with that
i know in Europe they sell retractable ones and its even on most BMW websites
does anyone know anything about this? how to get one? maybe aftermarket?

Don't do it! not on an e60! there's a reason why you cannot find them! Please, just get a SUV if you want to tow something.
the 5 is more than capable
hell a mazda 3 can even tow

why does everyone have the "need to have an SUV to tow" attitude?

I know it's possible to tow something with an E60 but is pure blasphemy!

I just think it would look funny to see a e60 hauling a trailer but thats just me, I also have the luxury of having my dad's truck to use when I need. I think if you really want a hitch you should look into the electric retracable tow hitch that some member on here installed on his car because having a hitch exposed behind your nice e60 all the time would be a shame.

I always thought pickups trucks were kinda funny vehicles, especially if you hardly ever use the bed for anything. I think most of my parents' cars had a hitch, they were used to tow a boat, caravans (=US trailer) and real trailers (the flat bed kind). They were not retractable so prevented quite a few parking lot dings!
I'd never have an exposed one on my car but there are times when a retractable one would be useful.

BMW won't sell it to you if you go there with a P/N? This is what's available for my 545. I'm considering it for hanging a heavy duty bike rack on, don't like the idea of downhill bikes on the roof!
