Got my Tom Tom Go yesterday and it works a treat ?400 (About $750)

If anyone is interested I can post a picture of it installed?

Seems to receive maximum signal from the GPS most of the time... Saved myself a heap of cash and the wife can borrow it for her car.

I've enabled speed camera detection and BMW dealership locations! Now if the BMW sat-nav could do that!!!

I'm using mostly a Garmin 2610 on a bean bag (not elegant but steady) and sometimes a navman 510 in the cupholder on a modified belkin cupholder mount. Since I only use nav from time to time (once a week at the most) it doesn't bother me to put it on the dash when needed.
I am still very curious about the TTgo installation. Did you get the full installation kit or the regular "window sucker" ?

I've had the TomTom GO for half a year now, and am extremely happy with it. I hardwired the power supply into the cars +12V so it's always charging and I also purchased the external antenna which I placed in the center of the dash.

It works FLAWLESSLY. You can download all sorts of POI (speed camera's, BMW garages, gas stations, even strip clubs if you want to.

It's GREAT !

Also installed some phones - I'm a gadget freak

I got the standard UK package with the 'regular window sucker' - seems fine to me... Also got a circular sticky pad if I wanted to mount it upwards from the dash rather than suckered on a window...

I've just suckered it in the middle of the windscreen and it's fine for me - although, I've just seen the pictures of the installation in this thread and it looks cool!

I like this idea! Where is the permanent cable routed to?

I love the POI's - haven't found the strip club one yet

Well, you know the cigarette lighter cable you get with the Tomtom ? I used that. I just bought a spare cigarette lighter at the auto store, hardwired it to a permanent +12V wire behind the dash, plugged in the standard charger, and taped everything tightly together so it wouldn't get loose.

Then I zip-tied all the cables neatly away and closed everything up again.

I would really recommend the external antenna, it improves reception by a factor 1000 in my opinion !

The left corner (right corner for you in the UK) of the windshield (driver's side) is an excellent location for the TTG. It evens out the dash a bit with the big Idrive display in the middle

I've had a Tom-Tom for about 4 months and its great . The only prob is the mount losess its stick after awhile. I'm looking for a more permanent clean mounting solution. Any suggestions would be great. Thanx

Do you think it would fit in the alcove next to the 'small' idrive screen?
