As I'm about to purchase my new 19" wheels, one dealer mentioned a tire company that I never heard of...

They are called Vredestein. Has anyone heard of these tires? I was about to pull the trigger on General Exclaims UHP tire based on all the reviews I read, but for the same price, this dealer will give me Vredestein.

Can anyone help here?

Anyone? If not, I guess I'll stick with General Exclaims then...

Just make sure that you get 4 good tires. I have heard now from many that cheaper tire makers have a higher rate of bad tires. I do not know what that means, exactly, but they say it. Perhaps its something made up by more expensive tire makers to try to differentiate their product.
I would consider ordering from TireRack as they are the cheapest and probably have much better quality controls than a local guy.

Vredestein is a dutch tyre manufacturer and a very good one. They are making tyres for 60 years now.

I use their Wintrac Extreme as winter tyre.

They have been in the top rankings of quite a few european tyre tests, but no one really tests 19"

The Ultrac is supposed to be really good and their newest one is called Ultrac sessanta. They do have a good name for making very good tyres at decent prices.

Yeah, I'm looking at the Sessanta's. They have a really cool tread that's new to the market.

All the tire manufacturers in the market they almost have the same quality and safety standards. (If they dont have they cant sell/import them) the only difference between them is how they are constructed in what use and how they wear.

You should log on to tirerack.com and read the comments section from buyers in order to decide for your next tire purchase.

my 0.02..

best regards,
Tony

Thanks Tony! Always a helping hand when you need one. Now I just need to return the favor and buy that damn Aero Kit front bumper from you. Soon...I promise. Wheels first though!
