... which also states that nitrogen already makes up 78% of the air around us. Is the benefit of going from normal air with 78% nitrogen in it already to 100% nitrogen going to be that much for daily drivers and daily driving I wonder.

Which actually mens you don't fill it with Nitrogen, just fill normally but no oxygen.

I'm curious, if NASCAR uses it and there is no change in PSI do to temperature change , why do they warm up there tires?
cheers
vern
Because of the rubber! A tire will stick to the pavement better if the rubber is warmer -- regardless of the pressure. (Although I thought only F1 used tire warmers...)

True, but I'd put it differently. A tyre will stick to the pavement better if it is operating in the specified operating temperature interval which tyre producers intended. Due to the nature of racing, the rubber, in a race, due to high friction, will be "normally" operating at temperatures way higher than normal air temperatures. So tyres, need to be brought in the temperature interval by warming up.

I think we're saying the same thing. Keep in mind that even under normal driving on highways, etc. (not racing), the rubber will heat up beyond the "normal air temperatures" -- in racing, they simply accelerate the warming process by pre-heating the rubber so it's up to the optimum operating temperature as soon as it's installed on the car (rather than taking a couple laps to get it there...)

Sure we're saying the same thing, never said otherwise.

And putting snake oil in your engine will make your car go 22% faster. Anyone know where I can get any? Any snake oil salesmen out there?

Sounds like a bulls**t hype to me, too

"Catherine Rossi of AAA Mid-Atlantic, said nitrogen molecules are actually four times larger than compressed air molecules, helping to maintain a constant tire pressure with less leaking out of the tires."

This is complete BS. How can anyone say such stuff....
