tires for 166s please help im so confused

My Ride: 2005 bmw 530i titanium silver premium and cold weather packages.... ready to do some minor work and still keep it sexy
i hate to bring this post up again but im still quite confused.
now im debating whether 275/30 or 285/30 would be a good choice. right now im running 285/30 but i need to change the tires asap and am so confused. if i take the 275/30 will i have a higher chance of ruining the rim in a pothole or is it just as equal as 285? im not quite sure if i understand this correctly but 285/30 is a wider tire than 275/30. Will this expose more of the rim and not give me any curb protection? what really am i sacrificing by going with 275 vs 285?

In theory you can put any of the tire sizes. I wont not put 255 in the front, I would go with 245 35 19 & 275 30 19. You can also run 285 30 19 but i dont know if they might rub

The standard BMW size is 245 35 19 front and 275 30 19 rear
I have used 235/35/19 fronts. it gives a better look but a harsher ride.

I had 275/35/19 on the rear and Falken tires. The tire was not wide enough for the rim. The front was fine with 245/35/19. 255's will not work because your wheel well is different from an M5 unless you get the M5 fenders.
I put 285/35/19 on the rear and they look and work great. No rubbing and they fit the whole width of the rim.
