Bumpity bump....

I want to clarify. I have a 530i, am I limted to 275/30 19s in the back? Can I go to 285/30 19s? Simple math says I add < 10mm (6mm, if I did it right) to the wheel diameter or less than 1/2 inch. Is that enough to throw the speedo off? Also, will the 285s rub? I have the stock sports package suspension.

If the 275s fill the wheel well nicely then I'll stick with them so as to avoid problems.

So my fronts would be: 245/35 19s and rears would be:...?

Thanks

Btw I've narrowed my wheel choices to OEM 166s and BBS CHs....

No rubbing and no effect or very minimal (<1%) on speedometer reading?

On sport, non sport, and eibach suspension, yes. HR is debatable, as Ive read some people are rubbing, but vega isnt.

Just do 285.

I have 285/30/19 rear and no rubbing at all (with roughly 100lbs front passenger, 200lbs on rear seat and 50lbs of luggage). Speedometer still 3mph off as usual when running by radar speed measurement device near by school.

285s should fit, but they're more for looks than anything. In terms of looks, I mean a wider footprint, as both tires will fill the wheel well just fine.

Mind you, the 285s come standard on the M5 which of course has much more power. On lesser e60s, the 285s can possibly slow you down and introduce more understeer. For the 530 and the 545/550, 275s are more than enough.

Yeap. But 285 could also protect rim from scratching, I guess.
One needs to weight 285 benefit and drawbacks:
Benefits:
Looks
Prevent rim from scratching due to more rim enclosur (I might be wrong)

Drawbacks:
Roughly $100 more expensive and sometimes, it's hard to find
275 is much more popular tire. You can save money and go for General Exclaim - around $200 compared to upper $300
More understeer and slow you down like Heezy noted earlier
Rubbing(?) I don't see this is an issue with 285/30/19.

Yea, 285 are hard to find at affordable prices. 275 are a lot more popular.

Thanks for the feedback
I think I'll go with Vredestein 275s as
1. it costs less
2. Vreds look wider than the numbers suggest so 275 look closer to 285
3. Some body said slower. I don't want slower, lol.

Now to decide on the rim...

I'll post pics as soon as I put the package together. First I have to get the car...

Where are you located? I've never heard of this brand before.

For a cheap, but good performing tire, the General UHPs are getting good reviews.
