Thumbs up

Okay. Friend of mine got a new E60 530d with M pack and the OEM M-style 19" (245/35R19)

So now we found style 149 (E65) front 5x120 9J x 20 ET24 rear 5x120 10J x 20 ET24

We gotta lose those tires. And according to the calculator @ 1010tires:
Stock Tire - 245/35R19

Least difference:
245/30R20 == Diameter Difference: 0.12% == Speedometer Difference: 0.111% too slow
275/25R20 == Diameter Difference: 1.33% == Speedometer Difference: 1.337% too fast

What I read here:
275/30R20 == Diameter Difference: 2.8% == Speedometer Difference: 2.865% too slow

So I'm confused Should we go for the smallest difference (275/25R20) or for the "forum recommended size" (275/30R20)?

Thanks in advance! I don't want any problems due to a small mistake by someone like me. Brake failures or other things could be very dangerous!

Thanks in advance

For 20" I think the 275 (or 285/295)/25/20 ARE the recommended sizes. 275/30/19 is the recommended size for 19" wheels. With the larger wheel you'll need a thinner tire to stay close to stock.

So it isn't a problem that one will run slower and the other faster? Or is it best to have them both slower?

In percentage, 275/25 makes more sense. But I searched the forums: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showto...mp;hl=tire+size and it confused me that everyone runs 275/30 while the difference in percentage is bigger

thanks

For a 10" wide wheel, go with 285/25/20. In my humble opinion,
I think 275/25/20 are better suited for 9 - 9.5" wide wheels.

It's lowered (OEM - 2008 Euro model) with sports pack. A bigger wheel won't rub? Just to make sure... Belgian roads are filled with holes

285/25R20 == Speedometer Difference: 0.544% too fast == Diameter Difference: 0.55%

Less difference! Thanks for the input! If the do not rub this will be the choice!

There are many, many members running 285 on their 20's with no rub ( a few even have no rub with 295). I am sure they will chime in shortly. Good luck with your choice.

With an ET24 offset, the 10" wide-wheel shouldn't rub with 285/25/20 tires

Post some pics of the wheels when you get a chance.

Thanks! I was looking into E65 wheels but I wanted the dished ones: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images...40084_large.jpg

But then I saw the 149 (http://www.vogus.de/RIN/Bilder/E65_149.jpg) and I recalled an E9X I saw last week with those wheels (I guess reps) in 18" and it got me thinking because I complemented the owner on his choice of wheels. Hope this "jump" pays off! Haven't seen 149 on E60 (have googled but no success)

Will post pics this weekend or next week - depends when I get my digicam back.

Regards,

Then you definitely want to listen to mrfva (Frank) - the man KNOWS his wheels, kind of his thing

I'm running 275/30/20 and no rub...but I do not have sports package, thus not lowered.
