Default Tire size 235/45R17 vs 225/50R17 on E60?

Hello folks - I have a 2006 BMW 525i and the stock tire size is 225/50R17. I was looking for some snow tires and found some cheap ones with rims but they are 235/45R17. I did some minimal research which says they should fit fine but I called up an autoshop and the guy said that it can cause error codes to be thrown. Anyone tired this size on their E60 and any issues?

That's a new one. The only error codes that you'd possibly get is if your package doesn't include the TPMS sensors. Otherwise, you should be fine.

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if my car has TPMS sensors. How can I check?

In your iDrive menu, select Vehicle Settings --> TPM. If you don't see that option, you don't have them. They weren't mandated in the U.S. until 2007.

My winters are 17s and have loads of space so a 235 over a 225 will make little difference. main thing is keeping to same/similar wheel ets
