I have sport package wheels style 124. They are 9" wide for the rear.
The tire come with BMW is 275/35/18. Can I put 285/35/18 tire on them?
According to tire rack, they suggest 9.5"-11" wide rims for 285/35/18 tires.

What problems will I may see if I put 285 wide tire on a 9" wide rim?

Thanks

See this thread: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...hl=tire+fitment for tire size calculation. You probably want to make sure tire+rim makes the same diameter as stock tires.
