A few months ago i was told by my SA, after complaing about a slight jerk of the steering wheel when initially applying brakes, that my thrust rod bushing was wearing out. I have been told about the aftermarket (polyeurethane) stiffer ones, but I cannot find them for the life of me. Can anyone point me to a vendor that carries these. I am now getting a shutter from the front end between 65 and 80 and it is really annoying with the brand new wheels.
Thanks
Thanks

Code:
............................................................................ Upper Control Arm - Left - Includes bushing & ball joint Part # : 31 12 4 046 437 $ 209.95 ............................................................................ Upper Control Arm - Right - Includes bushing & ball joint Part # : 31 12 4 046 438 $ 209.95 ............................................................................ Lower Control Arm - Left Part # : 31 12 6 760 181 $ 269.95 ............................................................................ Lower Control Arm - Right Part # : 31 12 6 760 182 $ 269.95 ............................................................................
If your bushing needs to be replaced, I'm betting that the other dependent parts are on their last leg as well. It's probably best to replace these as pairs.
Here's what BavAuto has for the E39; I imagine that you're looking for something similar for the E60...

Assuming the E60 has a similar setup to the E12/E28/E34/E39 and it has 18 million control arms per side someone will come out with a urethane version that will last longer. I don't believe anyone has done that yet.
With that being said the biggest thing the E28 guys did and what I did on mine was put in the 750iL version. It is a factory 'performance version'. Maybe the M5 uses the same thrust arm and a different bushing? If this is true you can put the M5 bushing/arm in and thus you have your upgrade

Its funny, I have been looking on real oem and the E60M5, E39 5 series and 745 all have the wishbone frame which looks reinforced, and the E60's dont. On topic I have a clunking noise coming from my front but its not heard under hard steering or braking, but its there when going over uneven pavement or dips at slow speeds

That seems to be the ball joint on the lower control arm/wishbone... any squeak noise when you turn the steering at one particular direction when at complete stop? Usually get noisier/louder when colder (or more like frigid).

+1, good point. Maybe worth checking.
2007 M5 Thrust Arm Bushing - 31120305612
2007 530i Thrust Arm PN(left) -31126774825
2007 530i Thrust Arm Bushing - 31120305612
Same
I thought maybe the Diesel would get an HD Version but the 535d shows same part numbers. No go on the possible OEM upgrade
