Yeah, I figured as much. It's a shame to have all the hardware needed to do something really cool, but having it locked down to the point of making it virtually impossible to take advantage of it outside of what BMW allows.

I guess we should all be happy that it is even possible to upgrade a CCC car to a CIC one in the first place!

Hi Nelson,

thanks for the inspiration to carry out this mod , I'm from the uk, and im watching this mod very closely. So i have a question, if i purchase this kit from partys, and fit it to my car, will i have any issues with this if i take it to a bmw dealer??? or if any programing to be done ie can i get them from a dealer, will their systems recognise it as an original system? or would it be recognised as an added system??......

You will need to put back your old system if you need to do any major software reprogramming. As of now, when you take it to the dealer it would not recognize it as an original part of the car.

That will require a new GSM TCU with the latest code, $199 a year, and it is not guaranteed to work.
