Not sure how that can be...as I recall the e39 didn't have a center console compartment and not all cars got front seat back storage compartments and there was no transmission tunnel storage net and no storage area inside the rear center armrest. Glove box seems to be the same size as do door compartments.

Well, there is no tray below the climate controls (E39 at least had that). And due to the crappy phone cradle/holder, there is even less space under the armrest. I've been leaving my ashtray open to act as a small spot to put stuff. At least changing the armrest on the E39 wasn't too bad on price (~350) and you did get a decent spot.
