I'm looking to replace my stock spoiler. (The big one that sags in the middle and retains water) The problem is I have to believe that there are holes in the trunk that won't be covered by a replacement M5 style.

Anyone ever done this? Whats the expected cost to remove and repair the trunk to a level where I could either go without one for a while or add an adhesive installed spoiler? Does the entire trunk lid have to be repainted?

Also how about some recommendations for the replacement? I like the RD sport but it seems a bit pricey.

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I don't recall any of the BMW OEM spoilers to be attached with bolts/screws, simply tape (and/or BetaLink).

You can remove it yourself by using:
  1. Hair dryer to warm up the adhesive. Be careful to not overheat the car's paint.
  2. Fishing line or dental floss to slowly "cut" through the adhesive. Patiently work your way from one side to another.
  3. Goo-gone to remove the left over adhesive. You may have to work its way off the car.
As for other options:
  1. Vorsteiner
  2. RDSport
  3. AC Schnitzer (ACS)
  4. Rieger
  5. Hamann
I had the ACS style (replica) and found that the fitment wasn't quite 100%. I currently have the RDSport spoiler now.

go with the vorsteiner, but hamman is looking good!, no need to repaint the hood, just goo-gone.
