I'm looking to upgrade my standard sound system by adding a sub and amp and potentially replacing the factory speakers. What are some recomnedations for speakers and amp? I used to own a e39 with dsp sound and I know there were drawbacks..are there any to deal with now? Thanks

My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
+1 on Bavarian Soundwerks I love my speaker package. After that I added a 12" woofer and amp in the trunk. My car is now loud without being obnoxiously so.

Perfect that's the route I think I will go. I was wondering if the sub would destroy the balance of the other speaker upgrade...but sounds like its an enhancement as well.

It won't destroy the balance, remember the standard stereo (which I have - no logic 7) has those "subs" under the seats that really work better as midbass speakers. So adding a sub or 2 (personal preference) in the trunk actually enhances the sound because it lets the stock under seat speakers work at their optimum.

Thanks again...I though I we be done doing stuff one I add the exhaust, but the other day it hit me to improve the sound...so that it is.
BTW...I see you are the A. F. version oF GI Joe. I'm in my self and just want to pass on my thanks in your effort of others ability to win, fight, and survive!
