My Ride: Black 2006 BMW 530i with sport and prem package, staggered 124 wheels, 50% tint, AC Schnitzer aluminum pedals, black interior w/ alum trim set, M style body kit and sound upgrade: Alpine PDX-5, PXE-H660, sub, MBQuart speakers.
Default

So I finally had my stereo upgraded with 4 MB Quart speakers, an Alpine amp PDX-5 (kept the OEM amp), the Alpine sound processor PXE-H660 and a Kicker sub. Sounds much better although power wise is not as strong as I was hoping to, I'll go back in a couple of weeks and try a bigger sub and see if that makes a difference, but in any event I guess I can live with it.

Now the problem came when making a call in the car, using my paired blackberry phone with bluetooth. I dialed as usual and the usual screen came up in the center dash screen with the name of the contact, etc., however there was no sound at all, and people could not hear me on the other side either. The stereo guy said he wasn't sure and he will do some research to figure it out. The theory is that the bluetooth is connected directly to the OEM amp, but since that amp is no longer connected to the speakers then there's no sound when using the phone. (speakers are connected thru the sound processor and amp). If that's the case, is it possible to connect the bluetooth to an aftermarket amp/sound processor?

Anybody experienced something similar?

PS. I will post pictures of the setup later......!

how did you wire the sound processor in? you need to use the front channels. the bluetooth sound only comes out of the front speakers on the stock stereo, so if you're using the rears to get your signal for all 4 channels that would explain why you're not hearing any bluetooth volume.

the microphone is in the headliner by the sunroof, check to make sure it wasn't disconnected during the install process. or maybe there was some damage done to the wiring harness out back at the TCU, who knows.

good luck

What speakers are hooked up to the PDX 5 and where did he get your signal from (which high level output)? If the installer home runed the all four MB Quarts back directly to the amp and got the signal from the rears then that could be your problem. Does the NAV voice guidance work? All of that stuff (NAV & Phone) gets routed to the front speakers only.

Check out my install and maybe it can help with your questions. I did not touch the front speakers at all.
