So I got my 19" V3 staggared setup installed today. I chose discount tire, simply because they are less then 100 yards from my house and they provide free summer/winter setup swaps if you buy tires from them. Do they know a lot about the E60? Not a chance. But one thing bothered me today. Thay made me sign some disclaimer that read:
"DT does not recommend staggared tires on AWD vehicles. Customer requested these to be installed anyway. Tires are only 1/4" diff in diameter resulting in 7.92 revs/mile difference. DT does not assume any liability resulting from mechanical failure in the future"
I've done my research. This is a common setup on this forum. I did not bend any of the rules....I have the proper ET on the wheels, and the exact tire sizes recommended. Is this anything to worry about? I understand they want to CYA, but it's still a little scarry to have to sign a waiver to put some damn wheels on!
P.S. I am not sharing any pics until I get my shadowline trim on at a minimum. You guys will rip it apart. But I LOVE the hyperblack on Titanium silver.Very happy with the setup. I am also going to either a) live with the 3 inch gap in the wheel well or b) figure something out. It stands tall on these wheels.

Can't speak to the technical attribute of how the traction control system works, but when I had a 330xi I was told that a staggered set of wheels will fault the system.

If this was the case than the 4.8 X5's with staggered factory wheel set up would be in the same boat as it uses X Drive also.

good to hear you put them on Mike. as for being staggered, both xi experts on the boards C'sbimmer and drlev99 had the staggered VB3s on their 530xi's with no problems

It's all just standard CYA. I have a 528xi and ran into all the same stuff even from site sponsors on e90 forums. They just don't want any liability for transfer case problems. You won't have any problems b/c you've done your homework and have the correct wheel offsets and the correct rolling diameters. It seems like a few people have done wacky setups, and messed up their transfer cases and tried to get the sellers of the wheels to pay, so they are just doing the old CYA.
No worries.

Thanks for the reply. This makes no sense to me though. If you check realoem.com, the 18" 124's are shown as OEM, and they are staggared! Anyway, many here have been running staggered setups, so I'm sure I'm within the limits otherwise, I suspect someone would have experienced something.
Good Luck and Enjoy

And thanks to others for their input as well. I feel much better ..... now back in the garage to get my matching matte black grills on! Thanks to Trinity and member Nerweezy...fantastic!
