I am considering ST coilovers for my 2008 535i. Looking for some feedback on anybody running these on the E60.
Have heard that they are popular with lighter cars, 3's and 1 series. Curious if they can handle the weight of our heavy 5ers.
I know that they are virtually the same as the KW V1's, just the galvanized housing instead of stainless - not ideal for the winter season here on the east coast.
Aside from that, if anyone has any feedback on performance on a 5 series would be helpful - have a opportunity to pick up a set at a great price.

There are members here that have and like them. I haven't seen anything bad about them. However, your mention of it not being ideal for the winter season on the east coast would make me choose something that would last longer due to your situation.

 

I've been running on them for 2 months. They are a little stiff for city driving but I love them on the highway. I'm completely satisfied with them and its reassuring that they are made by kW. Btw I live in NYC and our roads really suck!

 

Same in NJ, roads do suck indeed! Not too worried about the corrosion issue, more concerned with the performance. Good to hear they perform well on the 5 series.

 

Even on the softest setting?

 

I would go with the KW Street Comfort. It cost a bit more than the STs but very much worth it. The spring rate for the front is 286 and rear 314. You are able to adjust lowering height and have adjustable
rebound dampening. Much better ride. It is what I currently run on my E60. I drive about 100 miles a day and really enjoy the ride quality.

ST's are still a good option. The front spring rate is 400 and the rear is Progressive.

 

ST's are only height adjustable.

 

Can we swap out springs for a softer ride on these coilovers?

 

I do not sell the springs but I am sure you could order from ST.

 

I read on a spring rate thread that 400/progressive is the stock spring rate on non-sport E60's. Does anyone know what the Sports Suspension spring rate is?
