I think what you are actually doing is the "Throttle reset" which takes about 10 seconds. (Obviously by doing the "automatic transmission reset" trick by pushing the throttle down for 25 seconds, you are in turn also resetting the throttle .)

Your throttle will have still been used to the non-SB set up and driving style, so having now reset it, the throttle will adapt to the new SB set up and new driving style.

I think I will reset mine this evening as well -- I'm very curious now to see how it performs after that...

All seems feasible. Have a try and see what you think. I'm sure it's made a difference. If my car continues to feel how it did over the weekend, then the SB will be staying on.

i still think you should give the auto version a try
i have a auto version on my 6 speed 525i, and there's occasions when i over-rev in 1st gear and i just can't imagine being more sensitive...
plus with the diesel you have lots of torque in low rpms, not sure if over-reving is an issue in diesel? when i tire/careless, i can over-rev in 1st gear and it can jerk like crazy (like i don't know how to drive a manual).
anyways i am very satisfied with my auto version SB in my manual 525i, i still think if possible, give the auto version a try, esp you are not 100% happy with the manual version

It seems to have lost some of its agressiveness, but not much. This could be because the engine management system its now building in the throttle-lag again, i.e. the "risk factor delay" when you hit the pedal, because I am now pressing the throttle with more care due to the way the SB reacts. The throttle does however still react very swiftly and is a big improvement over the non-SB set up. Through a combination of me getting used to driving with the SB and doing the throttle reset, I find that its easier to hold it in gear if I want to, rather than it agressively jumping down a gear with only minimal pressure on the throttle. I like it!

Coming back to Palmo and Thyrus' comments above, maybe this throttle reset will help them with their very sensitive / agressive manual SBs?

How does it feel in DS mode?
Mine, it seems to keep up the revs on red line a bit too long before changing the gears and I'm actually a bit scared to floor it in DS !

after I have installed the SB, no need for me to put it in the DS mod.
just wasting fuel.
The car will not be faster, in DS mode.

Hey ping, ur the expert over here in SB.

not questioning ur expertees but i think it does differ in DS mode in My experience. i have witnessed a better timing in 0-60. It takes longer to upshift, plus when cruising and changing to DS, it downshifts giving u a better Acceleration. Dont u think?

I observed that in DS mode for the same speed&gear (ex: 70mph in 6th gear), the engine's RPM is higher in DS tha in D!
But with SB, like Pinghuhk said, I don't need to use the Sport mode

yes your right but not that much.
All it dose is it stays in lower gear for a longer time and wast more fuel so itis not worth it going into DS mod for me my a 525.
I dont know if itis the same for other engines
