It appears that the SprintBooster improves throttle response and a lot of people think it's a good mod and bang for the buck. It also appears that the install is not so stealthy and from different posts I have read, can be a little edgy in certain situations (like parking, backing up, etc).
Software upgrades (I will use Dinan as an example) provides improved throttle response as well. Does anyone know how it compares with the SprintBooster? Also, the S/W advertises minimal HP and TQ increases and also raises the rev limiter.
I am not sure of the price for the SprintBooster but believe I have seen it posted for circa $250. The dinan s/w is $499, but offers improvements that the sprintBooster does not.
Am I missing something here?

yes with the sb youll feel it right away with even one toe on the gas, but a software update could actually improve gas mileage. sprintbooster will use up more of your gas. and with sb, i believe that if you floor the gas pedal there is no difference. someone correct me if im wrong.

Chip tuning however (if this is what I understand by "S/W upgrade") will give a performance enhancement in the form of a more efficient burn for every fuel/air unit going through the engine. This translates to, at least for me, a noticeable boost after 3500rpm in all gears. Dare I say, I have even noticed better mileage under cruising conditions, something that no SB owner will ever claim...
AFAIK, there is no/very slight throttle response manipulation by chip tuning - the native delay is never erased (mine is still very civilised) - which is not the case the SB which completely removes it.
I think SB is not bad, but I'd rather invest a litlle more and get the chip tuning.

Any software mods will be wiped out if your dealer decides to do a software version update when you bring your car in for service. Then you have to pay hundreds of dollars all over again. In addition, the SB can easily be removed before going for service if you are worried about warranty issues. Just my thoughts on the sibject.

Yeah, Dinan would reload your software for free. Other tuners do charge to reinstall the software but it's minimal, about $50 or so; not the cost of the new software.
As for having both SB and remap, Vegastrashed had the SB and Powerchips on his 545 and Freed0m has the SB and Dinan software. I'm about to get my RDSport EMS tuning and will keep the SB as well and will report back.

I installed the Stage III Dinan software (along with TB, CAI) and noticed a marginal improvement in throttle responsiveness. Added the SB and the results were significant. I'd only go with the SB in the future if funding dictated either-or.

I have DMS remap on my 535d. Added the sprint booster and didn't notice much difference. I might take it off one day and see if I miss it, but I certainly didn't get the "wow factor" that people without a remap report.
