I was skeptical too about the benefits of installing a SB. I figured, as you do - what's the difference ... just mash down harder on the accelerator for the same impact.
Well, somehow the SB does more than that: the lag is totally gone; the rev's climb lightening fast; and shift speeds are twice as quick. It's like the E60 has a whole new brain - the brain of Lewis Hamilton instead of Mr. Bean.
It literally transforms the car into a beast. And with that, you easily re-learn how to apply your toes lightly to the accelerator - it's not a chore, the stiffness of the pedal is the same.
The interesting thing about the SB in the E60 is that it maintains the split personality of the power plant (easy going when you want, but a monster on demand) - except that the gap is now wider. In fact, I have been getting better in-city gas mileage with the SB, simply because I can't call on Dr. Jekyll on narrow suburban lanes for fear of putting women, children, and dogs at risk. Instead, I'm Mr. Hyde more often now close to home. But when you summon the beast, WOW, it's a whole new game.
Go and get one ... you won't regret it.

My Ride: 2008 535i, 6spd mtx, Monaco Blue w/Beige interior. Sport, Preimum, Logic 7/HD/I-Pod/USB, Nav sys, rear sunshade, HUD, PDC, Split seats,
I have one installed as well on my '08 535i and it really does "wake up" the acceleration of the car...well worth it (IMO), eleminates the factory built in throttle delay so commonly found in today's drive-by-wire autos.

Well, the input from other members certainly is convincing. I thinki I may have to get one. Anyone got a recommendation on who to buy from and how much? I've seen them as cheap as $275.
Also, I remember reading that one guy said he pops out the SB every time his wife drives his car. That sounds like a huge hassle as my wife does drive my ride almost every week a couple times.....(she has a.....dare I say it...... an Odyssey). Let me know. Anyone esle feel there is a danger to leaving it in?

So basically this thing gets your gas mileage down and your adrenaline up !

Light foot meaning to feather the throttle during take offs, otherwise the car will twitch/jerk. That may sound weird but once you get used to it, it's really not that bad, just all fun fun fun!

tiny question. Pingu, i pmed u te other day and u gave me full info. i emailed the guy in HK 3 days ago and yet no reply no nothing. plus as i read on all recent threads, i think about the E60 discount and the price u gave me was not correct.the price is bout 250$, not less.
other then that, ur the best Pingu.
Guys if u need any question, Pingu is ur guy, he's like an E60 nerd.(its a compliment). He's the E60 manual guide, whtever u ask, he has the answer. so listen to him. which is y im trying to buy the SB.
