Well, I gotta see if it's money well spent or they are all aFe (a fake erection) mod. i forgot who I got that from.
I happy to test it out from a stoplight. You have another advantage besides what is certainly a bunch more horsepower: weight. I'm 235 and I will have Victor (another 90 pounds). There is no way that my ride will be able to keep up with yours in a straight line. But we'll see.

OK. I have now driven the car about 90 miles with the SB. I like it but I do not think it is quite as amazing as some members say that it is.

There is no doubt that it makes the gas pedal more responsive. In fact, my wife told me that she was getting carsick (which she never gets) and asked me if the SB makes the ride "rougher".

The SB does make the gas pedal more responsive. Power does come on faster once you hit the gas. But it is still not as good as the stock 540i Sport was in terms of throttle response. When I floor it, I still feel an initial delay. The delay is shorter with SB but still there. But once the power does come on, the engine definitely revs up faster because the SB is giving the engine a stronger throttle signal.

Is SB worth $300? Yes. Would it be worth $1000, I don't think so as I still observe a delay between application of WOT and full power from the engine. The delay is just less.

I understand that the SB for manual trans is stronger and more responsive than the one for auto trans.

I hate the lag as well. Thats why I got the a manual

As for your wife, I think as you keep driving you'll be able to better "control" the feeling and it won't be as bad.

I did. As soon as she commented, I smoothed it out and babied the throttle as I used to do in the 540i Sport. I was deliberate being aggressive testing it out -- in DS and flooring it, i.e., my usual driving style when my wife is not in the car.

If you don't like to drive fast (really, the SB is about quicker initial acceleration not top speed), don't bother.

If you are like my and love to floor it all the time, it is worth $300 for the greater initial surge.

I still want to swap mine for a M5 though. I am a power junkie.

Airbus and Air France are not marques I like to see together when turbulance is involved. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that the reason Flight 447 went down was due to the French pilots surrendering to a storm. j/k
I'll probably go to hell for laughing so hard at that comment...

You CAN'T go to hell for the truth!! Besides they had to stop firing off fireworks at EuroDisney because the French Army kept retreating then too! So there is definitely a precedent here!
