I don't have the sprint booster but I would absolutely disconnect the battery if unplugging anything in E60!

To install the SB, you need stop your engine, take the key out out of the ignition, and lock the car from the outside, then wait 5 min before you start the install (this ensures that the computer has stopped sending information through the gas pedal information wire.) Ok, first locate the single big screw at the base of the gas pedal. It is covered by a little plastic insert piece (just pry it off). Unscrew the screw and slide the gas pedal assembly up and it should slide right out. Then disconnect the electrical cable. Now, line up the female adapters and the male adapters and make sure they are lined up correctly. (they can go both ways, but only one way is the correct one that will not give you errors.) Once you have that plugged in, slide the pedal back into the locked position and tuck away the wires. Then start the car. If you did it right, you shouldn't get an error message. If you do get an error message. Turn the car off and on again. If the message is still there, then turn off the car, wait 5 min and remove the SB to check if you lined up the adapters properly. Try starting the engine again. If you still get an error. Remove the SB and see if the error persists. If the error is gone after you de-install the SB, then try installing the SB again. If the error is still there after you have removed the SB, drive to a local autozone or advance autoparts (they have an OBD II tool there with which they can reset the the code original)

You don't need to disconnect the battery. You will only risk getting other error messages if you disconnect the battery.

j/k. I know what you mean. However, the computer is activated every time you unlock the car or open the door. So I'm not sure if those first steps are really necessary.

Very nice write-up. But how do you start the install if you've locked the car from the outside?

I talked to Andy and he said that after you turn off the car the computer still sends signals to the throttle and you should wait 10 minutes before the install.
