Curious, those of you with the factory US sport package, have you exchanged your springs for aftermarket? If so, do you see much, if any, ride height difference? I just hate to go through the aggravation, time, and reduced ride quality if the car is only going to be 5-10 MM lower. Most of the spring manufacturers just show "v8 or 6", and don't really show any other option. I know I installed a spring set on one of my e39's that actually ended up higher than the OE sport! Experiences here? Thanks....

What spring did you install on ur E39? There's definitely a noticable difference in height. Go for reputable spring brand such as H&R , Eibach, AC SCHNITZER, kW..

I wouldn't use anything but. I've been doing spring/shock combos since the early 80's, and understand the issues. The springs involved in the previous problem were H&R. I think that's a reputable brand, although I don't plan on using them again.
I'm looking for definitive answers here. I sure wish we could determine if there is a Euro spec spring that is shorter than the US (bumper restictions), but still rides as comfortably as the factory spring....

Have you thought about coilovers?

Depends on the type of springs you get. Different setups will provide different drops.

Also, check the gallery as many forumites have posted examples of their cars with aftermarket springs.

I just remembered that member Prodigal545i has the Sports Pkg and he also installed lowering springs. Not sure which type but the pics of his car looked pretty low. You might want to PM him.

Thanks, I will look for his posts. No on the coilovers. Too much money to spend on a car I'll only have a few more months, and I don't want to upset the ride quality that much. Just looking for primarily the cosmetics and slightly improved handling. Anyone got a Euro parts disc? I'm still wondering if there is a lower Euro spec OE spring---and I'll bet there is...
