It looks like there is a choice of two then - one if it's non-standard trim and one if it is standard. From the part number I think mine is the RHD version of the non-standard trim version - time will tell.

I did spend some time with the parts man and stressed the importance of getting this right and he assured me that he would double check. In reality of course I don't suppose it would be something to cry about if it ended up being matt black.

It would really suprrise me if you got yours in black gloss... But regardless, good luck. i hope it works out for you..

 

It does appear that most trims are matt black but the interior trim is gloss back the gear shift surround is too. Here's a not very good picture of a SAT car in gloss black. I just need to make sure the part number is right. Seems logical in a way unlike ETK.

Having read all 5 pages I am to assume my pre LCI 530d M-Sport is not capable of having such a mod ??

Was sports auto not availible for the pre-lci diesels maybe ?

I am afriad your are right.

SAT only came in with LCi (March 2007) - well actually, here in the UK, SAT followed the introduction of the LCis on the June production run according to my memory.

I don't know of any reason why you couldn't retrofit to a March onwards car, but for sure, a June production should accept the mod no problem.

For non-SAT LCI cars, it is a great mod!

That is awesome! I just got an 08 550i a few weeks ago and I would really like to swap my shifter too.

Is there any difference in doing this in the US?
