It seems like I get asked about this quite often though it's been shown on the board a few times (though they are probably heavily buried). So I would like to use this thread to show what brake effect with flashing BFD looks like in these videos.

The first video shows what regular braking on LCI E60 looks like, notice how when brakes are applied they look alike to pre-LCI tails -- which is a shame.

The second and third video shows the brake effect a little but mainly demos the flashing BFD.

The last video is what flashing BFD looks like on pre-LCI tails.

Enjoy!

I suppose for the lulz here is the video I made long ago just showing the brake effects. You can compare it to the first video easily with this

Simon,

Is there a single generic function to make the BFD flash all the rear or must go thru each of all the BFD_1_*_ERSCH_BILD functions?

NM: I didn't see any single function just individually.

So wait I am confused. I remember asking you about this before and you said you can't do the brake mod without the harness? Now with coding is it possible to do the "brake effect" modification?

I am confused by what you're asking. The way I do the special brake effect mod has always been via hardware. As for through coding, I was told that it can be done by coding, but I've never bothered to look into it because the way I do it just works.

My method is not cable dependent. The car in the videos, it's a LCI.

I thought we always needed the Bruce special cables to get the LCI brake effect? How is it done through hardware? Is it easy? And any idea on how to do it through coding I would like to try.

I think you're getting it confused. Simon is not simply just highlighting the Ricky Brake Effect using 6.1 cables (I'm not even sure if he's using cables from Bruce). What he is showcasing is how the brakelights flash a few times to get the attention of the driver behind you that you are slowing down and preparing to stop.

It also appears that this happens when you are reversing as well.

I guess we'll just wait for Simon to chime in and explain it, but that's what I get from the videos.
