Thinking of adding the xcarlink + specdock to my car to be able to display the ipod/iphone video on the iDrive screen.
Has anyone tested this? I know I would need to plug the specdock into an existing apple video cable, then plug that into the xcarlink but just wondering if the specdock cable will transfer video also?

Tried once on a friend's car, no success. Didn't dig deeper into why it was happening - most likely the iphone video cable detects some way that it wants to connect to the iphone directly, not through another cable.

Edit: It might work with an older iphone before they introduced the pin switching etc.

Any idea if it has all 30 pins on the pass through cable? If it does, it should be fine. If it only has data + charge might not.

Maybe you can just try this setup at home with a spec dock + video cable + iphone and your TV. See if the video out works. I have a 30 pin iphone extender cable sitting on my desk (thats what the box claims) and video out doesnt work (audio does work). If you are really going to buy this, call the spec dock people. I am sure people have tried this before.

The video will only work with "offical" apple cables. Do you get an accessory is not supported type of message? If you do and the iphone its jailbroken you can install apps to make it work.
Have sent them an email but no reply so far.
