I'm about to buy 12MM spacers for my OEM M5 wheels and wanted to see people's opinions on which one they thought was better based on their experience with them. Thanks guys.

 

I would go wider than 12mm if they are #166s. Either 15mm or 20mm. Keep in mind that 24mm = 1 inch.

I just bought some Rogues just to be different. I had H&R 20mm on my 530i (166s).
I am now going with Rogues 15mm for my 172s on my new 550i.

The Rogues are lighter, but my H&Rs were fine.

 

H&R has been the more common used brand of spacers

 

That's what I have seen. Been seeing more people get Rogue's lately though.

 

Are there any downsides to using spacers in front AND rear?

 

other than your wheels falling off?

As long as all the spacers are done right and you're using good-quality parts, you shouldn't have any problems. Unless you're planning to participating in rallye events or smth...

EDIT: some people say it is best not to use spacers bigger than 15mm, bc then you'll be using two sets of bolts - spacers bolt on to hubs, wheels bolt onto the spacers - this setup is not the best. Vibrations have been reported. But as long as you're using one set of bolts and they are long enough (if your spacer is 15mm - that's how much longer your new bolts should be), you are absolutely fine.

Where did you get this info? I have 20mm spacers on my front wheels and they only use one set of extended bolts.

+1 Where did you get this? RadzM550i is running 20mm spacers on his r10s, but Im telling him to put 25mm on. Do it!
