Maybe it's me but I don't quite get why you'd want such a loud exhaust on an M5. A Ferrari okay but it just doesn't fit the M5 image/character in my opinion...again, just my opinion.

Of course listening to recordings can be misleading...but from what I heard, I like the Hamann, Supersprint and Dinan. The Eisenmanns were waaay too loud.

I love how the guy fish tailed out of the paddock in this video. I need to upgrade my car.

i kept hearing from shops that supersprint is loud.. but i never heard it on an e60 or any bimmer in person or anything. when i was searching for an exhaust to get for my e60, i kept running into supersprint almost everywhere i looked. since i found it so many times and it was recommended by shops and the other option given was rd sport, i havent seen or heard supersprint on an e60.
MUCH quieter than the Eisenmann, deeper pitch. At least on an M5. Even with a resonator delete, SS is significantly lower in volume than Eisenmann.

Your exhaust shook my entire house! Even my wife had to come downstairs and ask if an F-14 just parked in our garage. She also wanted to meet you Ed and see what a real M5 looked like. I think she liked it. Maybe that will be my next car. Haha!

Hey Ed, I see a lot of M5 owners replacing "section 1 and section 2". What are those?

TIA,
Tony

Section 1 and 2 are the pieces of the exhaust system after the headers and cats, but before the muffler. They also contain the resonators, which we have three of. If you replace these with non-resonated pipes you will in essence have straight pipes. Also the term cat-back exhaust can be used.

Thanks Heezy. That's what I was assuming but wasn't sure.

I was just at CarLab and they have an M5 there with the Eisenmann race with sections 1 and 2 replaced.....

I'm still trying to regain my hearing....

Good gawd that thing is loud.

Three resonators? I believe the M5 only has 2. Setup as follows:
Headers/primary cats (2 of these)
Secondary cats ("Section 1") of which there are two
Center mufflers aka resonators ("Section 2") of which there are two
Rear mufflers (again 2 in the M5)

Not sure what the setup is in the 5 series.

So, Tony. A few (brave) guys are replacing the secondary cats and resonators with less restrictive aftermarket versions which DRAMATICALLY increase the volume of the exhaust. Don't believe there is an appreciable power gain, but the sound is simply insane (think slightly less insane than Simon from Evosport who has the headers in addition to Sec 1 and 2 and the Meisterschaft exhaust )

This guy's car is already sooo freakin loud. It could also be because we were in the garage so the sound was amplified but man, my friends and I were having problems hearing each other talk and we had to raise our voice to be heard. The car was only idling!!!!

I can't imagine what Simon's car must sound like in person.
