Have any of you heard of these. I've done a lil research already and very close to pulling the trigger on them. Just wanted some feedback from my forum friends. They're supposed to look just like the Hella version but you don't need the wiring harness, etc. I just need to know they light up the same as the OE version. Any input or know issues would be great.

You should check out Vendor Umnitza, he got the Sonar tail light in stock. Look for Matt, he should able to answer some questions for you.

I think these are the same ones that redeyejedi was attempting to organize a group buy for a little while back. If so, then these are not the same as the LCI. The LED bars do not wrap around the entire tail light and they don't light up anywhere near as bright as OEM LCI. Also, the rear brake light stays on and gets brighter when you brake as opposed to the LCI version where it's off and only turns on when braking. There are 2 long threads about that in this section somewhere.

If you are talking about something different then be wary as there has yet to be a cheaper replacement to the LCI tails + Bruce's cables that look almost the same and function the same as OEM LCI tails.

There is a thread somewhere on here that has pics of them I couldnt find it. Honestly i think they look like ish.. The color is off on the bars they look pink almost. Compared to the oem lci tails they dont hold a candle to them. For me i thought about doing something like this but decided against it. ITS AN BMW not a civic i am not willing to sacrifice quality for price. I just want my car to look as authentic as possible. So in that regards i would advise against it. I wouldn't put these on if i got them for free

Found the thread, and I'm 99% sure these are the Sonar ones...

https://5series.net/forums/topic/904...&#entry1069994

At the end, Bruce talks about how he developed a cable for these Sonar ones to look even more like LCI (brighter bars and brake light turned off).

Basically there was an earlier thread with a TON of interest (myself included), then when the review and pictures came out in the thread I posted above I would say about 90% of the interested parties dropped out.

I went to Umnitza directly and they showed me excatly how these Sonars work. He showed me that they are different than the group buy tail lights from the previous threads. On these Sonar's the brake lights only go on when the brake is applied and only LED bars stay lit when no brakes are applied like the LCIs. The only thing about these is that the inner light (Round one) closest to the liscense plate only goes on when the brak is applied. Other than that, the amber LED signals are extra bright. You might want to email Umnitza directly and ask for some photos before pulling the trigger.
