The sound matures and settles in over time. Mine isn't nearly as loud as it was when I first installed it, and the drone I did have is completely gone, along with the ricey sort of tin at a certain rpm. I do have the V8 so that does make a big difference as to the tone though. Give it time, you'll love it.

No it's not droning. It is a deep pitched sound that changes with RPM and the amount of pedal pressure I'm using.

Today I had my 27 mile each way commute to work and I am feeling much better about the exhaust. It is louder than I anticipated but I am OK with the volume it produces. The butt dyno says that the gains are impressive. One of the things that I know will be of use is that it is easy to tell when the gas pedal is being pressed more than necessary. That is when I can hear the exhaust more than any other time. I had a chance to drive under some bridges and in a parking deck and like what I heard. Cruising on the intestate at anything over 2500 RPM gives a nice deep sound but not as invasive as I thought it would be yesterday.
I am upgrading my opinion to 75% plus/25% negative. We'll see how things are after the 1000 mile burn in.

BTW, RPI guy, I am surprised there were no stickers or anything in the box. Guess you don't want the free advertising?
Drone is caused by a free flow exhaust relative to rpm and engine load. Sorry about the stickers. We dont normally give them out. If you want them you can contact us or email christie. We had a problem before when a customer with a HAI got a hold of our stickers and when he got whooped on in a race, it looked bad for us.
