I thought about snow tires but ended up buying a Jeep for the not so frequent snow days in Northern Virginia!
BTW, very impressed with the site and all its members. It 's a reflection of the car we all love, spirited (occasionally nasty if need be!) yet civilized.

Welcome to the forum, MALEKMAN, that's a pretty good solution. I haven't had a jeep in a long time, but it was a juggernaut when the going got tough - duck holes, etc. But you still may be exposed to those days you get "caught out." But, I'm betting the E60 would limp home anyway. DSC is pretty good in the light stuff.

I considered a winter beater myself but I need reliable transportation. I considered a lease on an X3 but couldn't get the purchase order "approved" by the misses. Oh well. I know it will be no Audi Quattro in thew white stuff, but in my area they plow the roads quite well and rather quickly. I could not have any "fun" in the Audi without going way too fast (leaving no margin for error) so I am looking forward to the BMW again. I never got stuck with any of my M3's and 4 snow tires so I don't expect this to be any different.

I'll post pics once I have them installed.
