That looks like the reset tire pressure symbol for the sensors. It's the same symbol as the one on my door-jamb that is supposed to remind you to reset after changing the tire pressure. So, my guess is what is done via the iDrive in the E60 can be done via the push of a button here.

Doesn't the M5 have adjustable suspension? Maybe that's the button for three different modes of suspension stiffness?

oh no isnt idrive supposed to be there to keep everything clean and have there all the functions that are not going to be used all the time, i hope they dont start clustering the interior with pointless buttons

The EDC is for the suspension stiffnes programs... (left of the stick, under the power button what releases 107 additional HP).
The button with the tire symbol might be to turn of the tire pressure monitor, because if you race and drift it may cause a tire pressure warning!??
The button right next to it is an arrow pointing up - and that just makes no sense...

When I enlarged the picture and looked at the button. To me it looks like a letter P with waves coming off it. The symbol next to it may be a pylon and not an arrow. I thought it might be a button for turning PDC on/off.

You're looking at the wrong button. The first picture with the button circled in red is the one that's got everyone puzzled.

You are correct that the button with the "P" is for PDC operation.

I could be wrong. But I think the " ( ! ) " button definatley has something to do with tire pressure, its the same tire pressure logo from the instruments of my last car, a 330xi . Either a reset button or a tire deflation button for track racing?

The "arrow up" ? no idea? someone said it was RPG... what is heck is that?
Is it possibly the 'rear window sunshade' button?

the ' P/// ' button is for sure the park distance control.

cheers!
