Sirius Question - switching cars

I have done some digging on the forum but really no info with regards to removing a Sirius Module to put in another car. I sold my 545 to a friend and bought another! (with extended warranty and maitenance) Anyway my friend is not going to use the Sirius Radio and said I can have it - my new car has the prep option. I know my car would need a software update so Idrive will recognize the Sirius module - here is the million dollar question.
Can I remove the module from my old car and then set up the sat wires like my sat prep car and not have to do an update on the old car? If the answer is no then I migh be better off to leave the module and just find a used one as the cost of programming 2 cars could get expensive. My friend does not care if sirius still shows up in the menu but you can't select it - just does not want an error code. Surely someone has moved their Sirius from one car to another?

It is a few months before the one I just sold, I believe it is 09/04 and the one I sold was 03/05

Got that - trying to avoid bringing 2 cars to the stealer for programming - was wondering if anyone ever pulled their sirius out (after it was active) and did your Idrive still function OK?

They will need to reinstall a termination loop (about $20) which will grey out the Sirius selection in iDrive. The new vehicle will need to be coded for Sirius if not previously equipped.

- would the non sirius car (sat prepped) have this termination loop? if so I would imagine I could just take it out from the new car and install it in the old one or just purchase the part and install it myself? and then only have to bring the new war to the stealer for programming
