Should I tint my Jet Black 550i?

good thought, but my rear view works just fine. i believe the sensor is built into the rear view mirror mount and faces out the windshield/lies flush with the windshield

Unless I read your post wrong.
I don't see how thats possible since the other cars headlights are shining from behind which triggers the dimming. On your rear view mirror if you look right in the bottom middle of it there is a round sensor there
which I think triggers the dimming of all your mirrors.

it wont..

get tint.. 35% will look great on black on black if you want subtle

Tint it.... Mine is 35% and my car is black/black. I actually want it darker though.

I did 5% in the rears and 35% fronts (looks almost factory, so I haven't been stopped yet (knocking on wood). Definitely tint your windows, especially if you live in CA, too damn hot to go with not tint.
