Hello,

In the next month I will be doing a lot of upgrades:

new wheels and tires
finishing my ground effects
Rear roof spoiler to add to my trunk spoiler
Just installed new clear angle eyes (look sweet)

My only question is well 2:
1. I have an 545 sport and I don't know if I should lower my car (love the look but don't want to waste money or have a ruff ride
I'm upgrading to 19' because I think 20' will give me to ruff of a ride plus I travel everyday for work and I'm afraid I may bend the rims

2. Could anybody recommend a nice ground effect package to look at

Thanks

1. Upgrading to 19's or even 20's should not be a problem as long you match it up with the correct tire dimension. Check your manual for 19's tire dimensions. I'm sure someone will chime in with 20's. With that said, a drop may complicate things a bit. You see I too have a 545 sport with bilstein sport shocks and eibach lowering springs on oem 166 and my fronts rub with 245/35 (recommended) ocassionally, but enough to be cautious over every bump or ramp. The V8's are very heavy up front so the springs will settle quite low. The rears however are still a bit high for me though, so if you want an even stance then adjustable coilovers are the way to go BUT you will sacrifice ride quality with them. My ride still feels like oem.

2. I don't have a kit on yet but others may chime in with some recommendations. BTW, welcome to the boards and good luck!

Thanks,

Are you running 19' or 20's and are you saying that your tires rub, what size tires do you have.

Thanks,

I was thinking the same thing but I don't want anything to rub. So I have to do some more digging....Any thoughts?

im running 19' bbs lms and running 245s on the front and 275s on the rear and i rubbed like heck with h&r drops springs, so i sold them and went for H&R coilovers and those were perfect. i ahve a 2008 535i.

Typically, the side walls on a 19" (35F/30R) will be the same as the recommended 20" (35F/30R). What size wheels do you have on now? The ride will be similar. Funny, my car is non-sport and if at all the maximum I would want to lower it is the same as sport height. I say leave it as is if you like it. When your shocks go out, get some KW coilovers installed. I hear they're the ones that are close to the stock ride.

I have my stock 18' on now. I want to go with 19 and lower the car with eibach springs, I was told those would be the best to use. I really like the look when my cars have been lowered but I do not want to bottom out or have a ruff ride, even though I have the sport suspension I guess the ride is stuff ruff? Maybe I just answered my own question...LOL

Thoughts?

Do a search on Eibach springs. Some have them and had the "raked" look. The back is higher than the front. I think that depends on which E60 it is. If yours is the heavier 545 V8 engine then you might get that look as well. Again, do a search to confirm that.

I did some research on this , cause me too I'm wondering if it's worth the difference.. I have the sport suspension and some people say that the eibach or the H&R lowering springs, do not drop the car enough to see a difference

Anyone can confirm that ?
