What are you trying to accomplish by debadging? Do you want people to think it is a 545?, M5 (althougth their not here yet)? Just be happy you have an E60 and don't succomb to need to be mysterious. Most people wouldn't know the difference and those of us that would notice it is debadged would probably think it is less than it appears to be. The debadging is a european issue where cars are taxed on their motor size so guys debadge them in hope of paying less fees and taxes. It's a great car no matter what motor is in it. Enjoy what you have. I vote leave the badge on.

That's what I was going to say!

When I lived in Amsterdam (and traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East and Africa), I noticed most BMWs and Mercedes were debadged, but here in the states, I would agree that most would assume you're trying to conceal a lower-end car.

Debadge.. it wil look much cleaner.. I debadged because a 530i is a high end car over here and I don't want people to know what I paid for my car..

When I lived in Amsterdam, this was the reason people told me for debadging--nothing to do with tax avoidance (I imagine the tax authorities can easily use your VIN...). Particularly in the northern European countries, cars are so expensive due to luxury taxes and the like, that people apparently don't want to flaunt their wealth--as unnatural as that may seem to us Americans! Here you find people trying to "upgrade" their cars--called being a poser--by, say, adding a M badge to their trunk. Yesterday I saw a M740i...I didn't know they made those...
