What size wheel you have? What brand tires are you currently riding on now? What kind of whether are you in?
I would recommend the following tires for longevity and traction at a reasonable price: Toyo, dunlop, BFGoodrich, and Yokohama.

I previously had a 330i with a modified suspension and 18" wheels. I got g-Force Sports to replace Yokohama ES-100's which had great traction and handling, but were extremely loud. In comparison to the Yoko's , the BFG's were much quiter, but softer and less responsive. They never felt like they wanted to be pushed too hard -- good highway tire. On an E60 and depending on your driving style this might be OK. I would not consider the ES-100's on an E60 because of the noise.
I like Dunlops in general (have them for winter tires), but the reviews and tests on the Direzza weren't that great.
A lot of people here swear by the General UHP's (assuming they come in the sizes you need) -- good value, smooth ride, and gain some all season capability. I probably would have tried them if they hadn't been on back order, but I think the Kumho's have better handling performance when pushed (I try to get to the track once or twice a year).
Good luck with your choice -- I'm sure you will like any of them more then the RF's.

My Ride: 2005 530i, 1995 318ic
retired circa 1970 2002, , circa 1985 320, 1998 528i, 1998 740i
Ever since I tried Kumhos on my 98 740i, I will not even give them a second look. Had them balanced twice in 1000 miles and they would not stay balanced. Returned them and now stay with Michelin, Bridgestone, and Continental.

I'm making the same decision, but based on our different locations, you might be better taking someone elses advice.
I have just worn out my Dunlop Sport Maxx non-run-flats, which I was very pleased with. They ran well, over two seasons, even during some track days.
I've narrowed my choice between the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R, and the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1. There is a $50 price difference on Tire Rack, but more importantly I can only find limited online reviews of the Dunlop tire.

Hey Guys,
I am looking at getting the General Exclaims, but they do not carry a 275/35ZR18. Can I get the 275/40ZR18 for my rear set?
