Hi all. I got my 550i without the M-sport steering wheel. Although it is bigger and the grip is thinner, it has been sufficient. However, I do sometimes miss the M-sport steering wheel that was in my 540i.

To get the M steering wheel will cost AUD 2,500. I haven't done it as I don't think it's worth that much...but then again...I do kinda want it....

Help me decide!

You see it all the time when you are driving and the feel of the M wheel is worth it IMO

I think it's one of those things that you either get with the car, or don't get. If money is no object then why not, but personally I wouldn't spend to change something so minor.

I say, get it... It'll cost a pretty penny though (new steering wheel w/ shifters paddle + new air bag + custom cable + etc.) the thicker grip and paddle shift is pure fun

I can honestly say that one of the nicest thing about my 550i is the thick sports steering wheel, I love the look and feel. I say go for it!!

i've got the normal wheel but it's nice & thick because of the heated whel option. I need that heat here in germany and the msport wheel does not come with heat afaik.

The M-Sport wheel does come with heat. I think that it was introduced with the LCI, but I'm not certain.

The steering wheel is the only part of your car that you feel with your hand all the time you drive.

So the answer is Hell Yes - if you can switch to a Sport steering wheel - do it. It feels much better than a the standard one. I had a standard wheel before and can definetly say the sport wheel made for a much improved driving feel.
