Shipping rims from us to canada issue
#1
Im having a deal with another member in here.
What could we do to avoid possible problems with the customs?
Hes gonna mark it as a gift with a custom value of $400, but then he said he has no form to fill out.
Last time i had something shipped from the US (euro-reflectors), a member here kindly filled up a form for customs.
He said he has no clue where to get one from or whatever.
What tips do u guys recommend to ship goods from us to canada?

How is he shipping it? My best advice is to go to either USPS/FedEx/DHL/UPS counter and ask them what forms are required.

When you declare the value with the shipper, you can declare it for a lower amount. However, make sure it's reasonable (not $1) and realize that you will be unable to insure it for anything above the declared value so if it is lost, damaged or stolen...you can only recover that amount.

ship using usps and I would declare the appropriate amount and say gift, like jlevi said if something happens you can't claim for more then the declared amout. The little bit of duties won't kill you, it whouldn't be that bad its only bad when some of the courier companies charge brokerage fees on top of the duties.

I have found UPS is the most expensive way to go in almost every case. The brokerage fees (not taxes or duties) are what get you. I always request US Postal service and of course declare some "reasonable" value.
